Mission

CHCU’s mission is “To restore Hope, transform lives and impact generations through facilitating advocacy on the rights of children, rehabilitation & resettlement of separated children and empowerment of vulnerable children with relevant resources, knowledge and skills for sustainable socio-economic development in target communities.”

Objectives


CHCU operates with three core objectives;
To advocate for safe spaces for children at household and community level in target areas.
 
To support vulnerable children with necessary mentorship and education resources and opportunities in target communities
 
To offer rehabilitation services to survivors of child abuse & children who abuse alcohol, drugs and substances both in non-mainstream and mainstream communities.
 
To offer resettlement and empowerment services to rehabilitated survivors of child abuse, children living on the streets and those involved in substance abuse.

PROGRAM DETAIL

Geographical Coverage

CHCU primarily operates in Soroti city and surrounding regions, but aims to scale its interventions to other areas as resources and partnerships allow.

Major Working Areas

CHCU’s program strategies are centered on three key areas:

a) Child protection & Safety – Advocating for safe spaces for children at household and community level

b) Rehabilitation services – Offering rehabilitation services to survivors of child abuse, child trafficking and children who abuse alcohol, drug and substance at community level.

c) Resettlement services – Offering resettlement services to separated children and those living in the streets

d) Empowerment services – This shall be done through facilitating mentorship and education opportunities, skills and vocational training services to vulnerable children

CHCU collaborates with local government agencies, community-based organizations, international partners, relevant community structures and civil society organizations to

ensure effective implementation of its programs.

CHCU receives funding through various channels, including grants from philanthropic organizations, local and international partnerships, and community contributions.

The organization has a strong financial management system to ensure transparency and accountability in managing their resources to maximize impact in their programs.

CHCU is governed by an inclusive Board of Governors and managed by a professional team with expertise in management, finance, monitoring and evaluation and child

protection.

The team comprises of experienced professionals dedicated to child protection, mentorship and development at the grass root level.
